The American horse overtakes the Peruvian favorite in the last 150 meters and wins by three lengths ahead.
The American horse El Puma Carranza was the fastest and took the long distance classic that in honor of José Aguirre Avilés ran last Sunday at the Miguel Salem Dibo racetrack, in the 1,900 meters. With the Peruvian Luis Hurtado at the controls, Puma Carranza had the luxury of surpassing the Peruvian Soda Stereo, favorite because he had won all the races of 2021. The winner registered 2 minutes, 03 seconds and 82 hundredths.
At the beginning, Bay Side went out to pay for the competition, followed by El Zurdo, Fasano and Soda Stereo; then El Puma Carranza and Kifak. Alcindoro was retired. In the 800 meters the fight was centered between El Puma Carranza and Soda Stereo, who seemed headed to win, as usual. But El Puma Carranza was a tough nut to crack and passed Soda Stereo in the last 150 meters and emotionally surpassed him by three lengths at the sentence line.
