Mancini calls Saudi Arabia appointment ‘exciting project’
Italian Roberto Mancini commented on the appointment of head coach of the Saudi Arabia national team. The specialist spoke on Instagram (the social network is banned in the Russian Federation; it belongs to the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in Russia and banned).
“I have agreed to take on an exciting new project based on a common vision and commitment to developing national football, young players and future generations,” Mancini said. He also called this appointment a recognition of the importance of Italian football in the world.
The fact that 58-year-old Mancini will lead the Saudi national team, it was announced on August 27. According to insider Nicolo Schira, the salary of the Italian specialist will be 20 million euros per year.
On August 13, Mancini left the post of head coach of the Italian national team, which he had led since 2018. At the same time, the specialist blamed the president of the Italian Football Federation, Gabriele Gravina, for his departure.
