The press secretary of the national football team of Tajikistan Faridun Saliev spoke about the possible timing of the friendly match with Russia. His words are quoted by Sport24.
“We are ready to consider a proposal from the RFU for a friendly meeting, but only for the fall of next year. So far, the calendar of the Tajik national team is full until June 2024,” Saliev said.
On August 16, the Russian Football Union (RFU) reported that they were negotiating with the Bahrain team. The organization emphasized that they would announce the match as soon as the contract for its holding was signed.
On February 28, 2022, the International Football Federation and the Union of European Football Associations excluded Russian teams and clubs from international tournaments. The teams do not play in European competitions, and the Russian team has lost the opportunity to fight for reaching the finals of the 2022 World Cup.
