World Athletics allowed runner Alsu Bogdanova to play for the USA
The World Athletics Association (World Athletics) allowed the Russian runner Alsa Bogdanova to compete for the United States. It is reported by TASSTASS.
Under the new flag, the athlete will be able to take part in international competitions. She received the right to enter tournaments on June 28, 2023. Bogdanova’s previous performance in Russia was in January 2019 in Novocheboksarsk. She finished third in the 3000 meters.
Bogdanova is the silver medalist of the Russian Cups in 2017 and 2018 in the 3000 meters hurdles. She represented Tatarstan at competitions.
On August 17, the head of World Athletics, Sebastian Coe, doubted that Russian athletes would be able to take part in the 2024 Olympics in Paris. “The Council has taken a clear position, I will be very surprised if it changes. We did this for the integrity of the competition. Of course, we will monitor the situation, we have a working group. It doesn’t look like things will change,” he said.
