In 2022, Carlos Alfaro Moreno, president of Barcelona SC, has announced that he will not run for re-election for the position he holds in the election process which, in principle, is scheduled for September 2 at the Banco Pichincha Stadium.
However, in recent months the current Toreador leader has changed his mind and left open the possibility of entering the fray.
Alfaro Moreno made it clear at a press conference on Wednesday that there will be a “government list”, although it has not yet been defined whether he will lead it.
“I can confirm that there will be a candidacy of the ruling party. We will surely have some news in the next few days, together with the group we are working on, thinking about,” he said.

“We are on time, we are very calm that it has been done for years and it is important for us to maintain that order, the memory of everything that was built as an institution”, added the current president of the Yellows.
Alfaro Moreno insisted on the possibility of asking for an extension of the mandate and that there is something that moves him because “the best is yet to be”.
“Although I think it is a very good time to leave, because other presidents would have given their lives for this kind of exit, there is a very strong voice that moves me and tells me that the best is yet to come,” concluded the toreador president. (D)
