Lithuanian figure skater Kochkers announced a good attitude towards Russians abroad
Lithuanian figure skater Daniel Kochkers spoke about the attitude towards Russian athletes abroad. His words are quoted by Sport24.
“The fact that the attitude is not very good is all fiction. Regarding the skaters, everything is fine. Nobody has anything to do with politics. Skaters are athletes, not politicians,” said the 17-year-old Lithuanian. He stressed that communication and training of figure skaters from different countries continues. According to Kochkers, due to the lack of Russians, there is no competition in the tournaments.
Kochkers competed at the Junior Grand Prix and the European Senior Championships, where he finished 29th. He represents Lithuania in international competitions.
On March 1, 2022, the International Skating Union (ISU) banned Russians from participating in competitions under its auspices. Due to the sanctions, the skaters were unable to take part in the World and European Championships, as well as in the Grand Prix series.
