A Ligue 1 2023/24 kicked off this weekend and 12 Brazilians were on the field. Of these 12 athletes, however, only seven played the entire match.
The great highlight of Brazil in this first round of the French Championship was the right-back Vanderson, formerGuild, who now plays as a winger in Monaco’s three-back system, coached by coach Adolf Hütter. The player scored a goal and provided an assist in the team’s victory over Clermont, 4-2.
Only one new face appeared among the seven Brazilians who played the 90 minutes in Ligue 1: left-back Renan Lodi, formerAthletico-PRcontracted with the Atletico Madridfrom Spain.

The left-back is the position that most concentrates Brazilians in French teams. Players like Neto Borges (Clermont), Ismaily (Lille), Renan Lodi (Marseille), Caio Henrique (Monaco) and Henrique Silva (Lyon) are part of the defensive lines of their respective clubs on the left side.
The other positions that accumulate more Brazilians are the defense and the attack, both with three athletes each. Right behind, the right-back appears, with two, and the volatility and midfield, with a Brazilian in each area.
Furthermore, in the first round of the French tournament, two Brazilians faced each other, even if for a short time. Attacking midfielder Jeffinho, from Lyon, and striker Ângelo, newly arrived at Strasbourg, dueled for just over ten minutes. The victory went to the team of formerSantosby 2 to 1.
