Éder Militão ruptures knee ligament and will undergo surgery, confirms Real Madrid

The “witch” is loose in the Real Madrid. This Sunday morning, the Spanish club informed that Brazilian defender Éder Militão tore the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee and will undergo surgery. Due to the serious injury, the player will be out for most of the season.

Last Saturday, the defender left the lawn of the San Mamés stadium right at the start of the second half of the victory over Athletic Bilbao, for the first round of the Spanish Championship. Militão appeared to have been in a lot of pain and left the field crying for Antonio Rudiger to come on.

Recovery time for an ACL injury is around four to six months. However, there are cases where improvement can happen up to a year after the breakup.

Militão is the second Real Madrid player to have suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. the goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was injured in a Real Madrid training session last Thursday, August 10th, and had to undergo medical tests, which detected the injury.

Due to the injury of the Brazilian defender, the Spanish club can go to the market to look for a defender who can give more depth to Carlo Ancelotti’s squad. At the moment, for the defense, the Italian has Rudiger, David Alaba and Nacho Fernández at his disposal.
