Borussia Dortmund thrashes amateur team and advances to the next stage in the German Cup

This Saturday morning, Borussia Dortmund visited and thrashed Schott Mainz 5-1 and advanced to the next stage of the German Cup at the Mewa Arena, in Mainz. The team’s winning goals were scored by Haller (2x), Brandt, Sabitzer, Malen and Moukoko. Gans scored the goal of honor for the home team.

With 33 minutes of the first stage, Schott Mainz reduced the difference. From a free kick, Gans headed the ball towards the goal. The ball hit the Borussia Dortmund defender’s face and bounced back to the feet of the defender, who managed to overcome goalkeeper Kobel.

However, Borussia quickly retook the two-goal advantage in the 35th minute. Bensebaini crossed, the opponent’s defense cut badly and Haller, again, was alone face to face with Schott Mainz’s goal. The striker did not waste and scored the third of the team.

With 10 minutes of the second half, Borussia started the rout. Brandt tried to cover up the opposing goalkeeper, who made a good save. However, the remainder was left with midfielder Sabitzer who, alone, finished low and scored the fourth goal.

The fifth goal came in the 34th minute of the second half. Reus received from the left side and played to Sabitzer. The attacking midfielder just anchored for Malen, at the entrance to the penalty area. The young Dutchman finished with strength and the ball even hit the crossbar before entering, with no chance of defense for the archer Hansen.

To close the score, with 40 minutes, Moukoko made a quick move and scored Borussia Dortmund’s sixth.
