With one man more, Valencia scores at the end and beats Sevilla in the opener of the Spanish Championship

At the premiere of Spanish Championship, it was Valencia who debuted with the right foot. The club beat Sevilla 2-1 this Friday at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán. Diakhaby and Guerra scored for Valencia, while En-Nesyri scored for Sevilla.

Sevilla returns to the field next Wednesday (16) to play in the final of the UEFA Super Cup. The Spanish team will measure forces against the Manchester City. The big decision is scheduled for 4 pm (Brasília time), at the Karaiskakis Stadium, in Athens, Greece.

Valencia, on the other hand, returns to the pitch only next Friday (18), for the second round of La Liga. The team faces Las Palmas, at 4:30 pm, at Mestalla Stadium, in Valencia, Spain.

Valencia had a great chance to open the scoring 20 seconds into the game. Sevilla’s defense missed the ball and André Almeida stayed with it. The midfielder entered the penalty area, but was disarmed at the last second and failed to finish. Valencia tried again with Gayá taking a free-kick, but the full-back tapped out.

With eight minutes, Sevilla created their first big chance. The ball fell to Acuña at the entrance to the penalty area, who hit the goal and took paint off the opponent’s crossbar. In the 22nd minute, En-Nesyri received a cross and headed it into the hands of goalkeeper Mamardashvili.

The first half ended with pressure from Sevilla, but the tie persisted. In the second stage, Valencia imposed more difficulties on the home team. With 14 minutes, the visitors made it 1 to 0. André Almeida made a good move on the right and played for Diakhaby, who only finished with a plate for the bottom of the goal.

After Valencia’s goal, Sevilla started to press. At 25 minutes, Suso crossed for En-Nesyri, with a header, leaving everything equal: 1 to 1 on the scoreboard.

With 35 minutes, the Valencia striker would come face to face with goalkeeper Bounou. However, Badé was fouled and, for having stopped a play in which there was a clear chance of scoring, he received a straight red card.

With one man more, Valencia reached the second goal. Hugo Duro stole the ball from Sevilla’s defense and played for Javi Guerra, who only tapped and scored to give the victory to the visiting team.

Rayo Vallecano beats Almeria

Earlier this Friday, Rayo Vallecano beat Almería 2-0 in the opening of this season’s Spanish Championship. Camacho opened the scoring by taking a penalty and Nteka, in another penalty, closed the Madrid victory at the Mediterráneo Stadium, home of Almeria.

In the second round of La Liga, Rayo Vallecano will visit Granada, at 4:30 pm, next Monday (21st), at the Nuevo Los Cármenes Stadium. Almería, in turn, receives Real Madrid, at 2:30 pm, on Saturday (19), in the Mediterráneo.
