Member of the Ukrainian Parliament and Olympic champion in Greco-Roman wrestling Jean Beleniuk spoke on the Telegram channel about the project of the Verkhovna Rada related to the ban for Russian and Belarusian athletes from entering countries to participate in international tournaments.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine appealed to the leaders and parliaments of foreign countries with a request to limit the entry of Russian and Belarusian athletes abroad, as well as sports delegations. According to Beleniuk, this will contribute to their removal.
On July 18, the chairman of the organizing committee of the 2024 Olympic Games, Tony Estangue, said that a decision on the participation of the Russians would be made no earlier than September. He stressed that it will be taken into account whether athletes receive permission from sports federations to participate in qualifying competitions.
The Olympic Games are to be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
