Bernard scores as Panathinaikos beats Olympique Marseille in Champions League qualifying

Looking for a job in Champions LeaguePanathinaikos gained an important advantage over Marseille Olympics this Wednesday. For the qualifying rounds of the continental tournament, at the Apostolos Nikolaidis Stadium, in Greece, the Greeks won by 1-0, with one from the Brazilian Bernard in the second half.

The second game of the confrontation will be next Tuesday, at the Vélodrome, in France. The team that advances will still have to overcome another opponent, yet to be defined, to win a place in the group stage of the Champions League.

Before the comeback, Olympique de Marseille will make their debut in the French Championship, against Reims, on Saturday, at home. Panathinaikos, on the other hand, will only debut in the Greek Championship after meeting the French, so they will be free to train in the coming days.

The only goal of the match was scored in the 37th minute of the final stage. The Greeks exchanged quick passes on the edge of the area and the ball was left for Bernard to hit. Free of marking, the Brazilian shirt number 10 of Panathinaikos finished firmly in the left corner and gave the victory to the home team.
