Canadian hockey player Leipsik said he feels part of Russian culture
Canadian SKA hockey player Brendan Leipsik explained his desire to obtain Russian citizenship. It is reported by “Match TV”.
According to the striker, he and his family feel comfortable in Russia. “I plan for the rest of my career to be in the KHL. I live in Russia, I feel like a part of Russian culture, which I accept – I like everything, ”said Leipsik.
On July 11, Leipsik’s desire to obtain Russian citizenship became known. SKA head coach Roman Rotenberg said that the Canadian wrote a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Leipsik, 29, joined SKA in June 2023. His contract with the army is for two seasons. The athlete has been playing in the Kontinental Hockey League since 2020, he previously defended the colors of CSKA and Metallurg Magnitogorsk.
