The cost of taxi services in Russia may rise in price by 30%. RBC writes about this with reference to industry representatives.

It is noted that taxi prices in Russia have already approached 33 rubles per kilometer. The average check for a taxi in Russia in the first half of 2023 reached 435 rubles, an increase of 4% year-on-year, the Check Index company calculated.

By September, taxi services may rise by another 30%.

According to the press secretary of the Maxim service, Pavel Stennikov, quoted by the media, since the beginning of the year, the cost of a taxi ride has increased by about a quarter in the regions of Russia and by 40% in Moscow. The rise in the price of taxi services was also affected by the rise in car prices. Many foreign manufacturers refused to supply their products to Russia after February 2022, and local factories had difficulties with components for the same reason, Stennikov noted. At the same time, representatives of the Citymobil service added that taxi prices have soared precisely because of the growth in carriers’ costs for car maintenance. Another factor was the rising cost of fuel.

The industry believes that prices could also rise exponentially due to the entry into force of a new law on taxis, which will oblige taxi drivers, including self-employed people, to buy OSAGO insurance at a carrier rate that costs 10-12 times more than the standard one.
