Sister Mandrykina said that against the background of illness, the footballer’s heart could not stand it
The sister of the former goalkeeper of Moscow CSKA and the Russian national team Veniamin Mandrykin, Zhanna, became aware of the results of her brother’s autopsy. Her words are quoted by Match TV.
Mandrykina stated that the diagnosis was confirmed. “Against the background of a long illness, the heart could not stand it,” she said.
The departure of Mandrykin became known on August 6. The 41-year-old former athlete had a heart attack. The intensive care team brought him to the hospital after his condition worsened.
In 2010, Mandrykin got into an accident, as a result of which he received a fracture of the spine. After that, he was confined to a wheelchair, almost completely unable to move.
Mandrykin played for CSKA for most of his career. As part of the army team, the goalkeeper won the championship and the Russian Super Cup three times and the Russian Cup four times. Also, together with CSKA, he won the UEFA Cup.
