This Monday, at the Hindmarsh Stadium, the Brazilian Team thrashed Panama, 4-0, in his debut in the Women’s World Cupin a duel valid for Group F. With a hat-trick in the match, midfielder Ary Borges highlighted the importance of winning the first game of the World Cup, but kept her feet on the ground for the rest of the tournament.
“A beautiful game that we played, we imposed ourselves, and nothing better than starting the Cup with three points, which are very important. Ary today is very fulfilled, but she knows that it is just the first step of a very long path”, said the player in a post-game interview with SportTV and to Fifa.
The player from Racing Louisville, from the United States, also spoke about her performance during Brazil’s debut. The midfielder was the highlight of the duel, but confessed that even she wasn’t expecting to score three goals in the same match.
“Not even in my wildest dreams (I expected that). I’ve waited a long time for this moment, it’s a dream to be here, to be able to play in a World Cup. It really is one of the best days of my life. I’m very happy, obviously for the three goals, but mainly for the debut”, said the athlete.
Finally, Ary Borges also explained the reason for his celebration in the first goal of the Selection. The player knelt on the lawn and put her hands on her face, getting very emotional after scoring Brazil’s first goal in this edition of the Women’s World Cup.
“A lot of emotion, remembering everything I did to be here. Today was a day that had mixed feelings, in which I was happy, I cried, I was anxious to start the game. I remembered my family, where I came from, and being able to be here is a dream”, ended the sock, in tears.
Now, the Brazilian team is back on the pitch against France, next Saturday. The clash is scheduled for 7 am (Brasília time), at the Lang Park Stadium, in Brisbane, Australia. The confrontation marks the duel between the two big favorites for the leadership of Group F, which also has Jamaica and Panama.
