Russian coach Sergei Samsonov has left the National Hockey League (NHL) Carolina Hurricanes after eight years on the job. It is reported by TASS.
“I won’t be at Carolina next season. In the near future I will decide what I will do, ”said the specialist.
44-year-old Samsonov served as a forward development coach in the team. His contract with the Carolinas expired on June 30.
Samsonov – bronze medalist of the 2002 Olympic Games as part of the Russian team. He is known for playing for CSKA and Dynamo, with whom he became the champion of Russia in 2005. In the NHL, the striker played for the Boston Bruins, Edmonton Oilers, Montreal Canadiens, Chicago Blackhawks, Florida Panthers and Carolina. In the 1997/1998 season, he received the Calder Trophy prize for the best rookie of the season.
