Enner Valencia was welcomed by Inter fans in Porto Alegre with great fanfare, but after his performances in the Brasileirão (Brazilian national championship) they started to be disappointed because as a striker he did not make a difference or score goals.

On July 9, the three-color striker entered the starting line-up in the game that he lost on the road (2-0) to Fluminense at the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro, in which he played only the first 45 minutes; and the following week, on the 16th, they drew 0-0 at home to Palmeiras at the Beira-Rio Stadium.

However, it is not all Enner’s responsibility, because Inter is experiencing an irregular football moment in the championship there, where it is eleventh with 22 points, and its difference is in the minus (-3). It was this poor run that took its toll on coach Manu Menezes, who was sacked from the technical management last Tuesday.

After the departure of Menezes, the Argentine coach Eduardo chacho Coudet took over and discussed the team, especially the all-time top scorer for the Ecuadorian team, with 40 goals, 6 of them in the FIFA World Cup.

“Enner is a great addition and we will try to use it in the best way. In the two training sessions we saw him in, he was very good. We will try to use their qualities, as well as the whole group”, commented Coudet at the press conference.

“We certainly need to create opportunities for him to score, and then it doesn’t matter what kind of player he is,” added the Gauchos skipper, who will return to Inter’s bench after his term in 2020.

This Sunday starting at 14:00 in Ecuador, Inter will visit Bragantino at the Nabi Abi Chedid stadium in the city of Bragança Paulista, in the state of São Paulo. (D)
