Sportal: Hungarian Ferencváros fans demanded the resignation of coach Cherchesov
Fans of the Hungarian club Ferencváros demanded the resignation of head coach Stanislav Cherchesov. It is reported by Sportal.hu.
According to the source, during the return match of the first qualifying round of the Champions League, Hungarian fans chanted Auf Wiedersehen! (with German “goodbye” – approx. “Tapes.ru”) and “Russians go home!”, alluding to the dismissal of a Russian specialist from Ferencváros.
On July 19, Ferencvaros was defeated by the Faroe Klaksvik with a score of 0:3. The first meeting of the teams ended in a goalless draw. Thus, the Hungarian club could not reach the second round of the Champions League qualification.
Cherchesov took charge of Ferencvaros in December 2021. Under his leadership, the team twice became the champion of Hungary, and also won the Hungarian Cup. Since 2016, Cherchesov has been the head coach of the Russian national team. Together with him, the team reached the quarterfinals of the home world championship.
