UEFA said they would evaluate the performance of the Crimean clubs in the Second League in Russia
The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) made a statement regarding the performance of the Crimean clubs in the Second League in Russia. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
UEFA said they are in contact with the Ukrainian Football Association and the Russian Football Union on this issue. They are assessing the situation in light of the decision to ban clubs based in Crimea from participating in competitions organized by the Russian Football Union (RFU).
On June 6, it became known that Sevastopol and Rubin Yalta received licenses to participate in the Second League in the 2023/2024 season. On July 16, the teams played their first matches in the third strongest Russian division. After that, the UAF demanded to exclude the RFU from the International Football Federation and UEFA.
By the UEFA decision of 2014, the Crimean clubs play in a separate league – the Crimean Championship. Teams are prohibited from participating in RFU tournaments.
