London will not accept the Olympic qualification tournaments because of the position on the admission of Russians
London will not host qualification tournaments for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. This became known to Inside the Games.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) considered London as a candidate to host qualifying tournaments for breaking, skateboarding, rock climbing and BMX. Sanctions were imposed against the British capital because of its position on the admission of Russian athletes. The UK government requires Russian athletes to sign a declaration of neutrality in order to compete in the country.
The UK said they were extremely disappointed with the decision of the IOC. “This is especially frustrating for British athletes, who are being denied the benefit of supporting their fans,” the British Olympic Association said.
On March 28, the IOC recommended that Belarusians and Russians who did not support the special operation in Ukraine be allowed to compete in a neutral status. At the same time, athletes from Russia and Belarus associated with the armed forces or security agencies of their countries are recommended to be suspended from participation in the starts.
