Athlete-champion spoke about the sale of the apartment for the resumption of training

Athlete Lysenko spoke about the sale of an apartment for the sake of training to return to sports

Indoor high jump world champion Danil Lysenko spoke about the difficulties of returning to the sport after being suspended due to missing doping tests and falsifying data. His words are reported by Match TV.

The Russian shared that after the suspension, his finances ran out and he had to look for another job. The athlete noted that he was advised to start training, but he was not ready for this.

Lysenko said that during this time he managed to work in a delivery service and a bank, as well as a personal driver. After that, he decided to resume training. “In order to train further, funds were needed. I sold an apartment in my hometown of Birsk,” he said.

July 2 Lysenko won the open athletics tournament “We are together” in Belarus. The athlete took a height of 2.33 meters and repeated the best result of the season in the world.

In August 2018, Lysenko was suspended from international competition after missing three doping tests. In July 2021, the Court of Arbitration for Sport suspended the athlete for six years (of which two years on probation) for anti-doping rule violations and interference with the results management process. As a result of the investigation, it turned out that the athlete provided fake documents about why he could not pass doping tests.
