Independiente del Valle will be playing in their fourth consecutive Copa Libertadores U-20 final, the youth tournament they hold the title for in 2020. The stripes will face Argentina’s Boca Juniors, who will be looking for their first crown.
The Rayados qualified for this stage of the tournament after beating Cerro Porteño (Paraguay) 1-0, while the Xeneizes beat Peñarol 1-0, thus vacating the Uruguayan side’s title.
Boca won their group with 1-0 wins over Defensor Sporting (Uruguay) and Huachipato (Chile), as well as a 2-2 draw with Palmeiras (Brazil).
In the semi-finals, they beat Peñarol 1-0 with a goal from Mauricio Benítez, so much so that they used the Argentines in their second final, after losing in 2011 to Universitario de Deportes, in Lima. (D)
