The United Kingdom will join the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (CPTPP), an international union in which economies boost their trade ties.
According to Jonathan Knott, Trade Commissioner for the Crown in Latin America, the signing of the United Kingdom’s accession to this bloc “will make it possible to reduce trade barriers, cut tariffs and improve investor protection.”
It is worth noting that the CPTPP is made up of Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore and Vietnam.
In this regard, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur), Juan Carlos Mathews, pointed out that the arrival of the United Kingdom to the trade agreement will bring better access conditions for Peruvian exports of goods and services, for the temporary movement of people of Peruvian businesses and for electronic commerce.
“Additionally, with the accumulation of origin, Peruvian companies will be allowed to export and use inputs from other member countries, having more supply opportunities,” the official said.
