Ecuador’s women’s soccer team claims, before a friendly match with Argentina, to have the same treatment as men

Team led by Emily Lima is preparing to participate in the Copa América next year.

Before the preparatory friendly match for the 2022 Women’s America’s Cup, against Argentina (2-2), the members of the women’s soccer team of the Ecuador They made an original protest: they lined up near the midfield of the Rodrigo Paz Delgado stadium, in Quito, and showed their annoyance.

The outfield players lifted their yellow shirts and they showed a black outfit with the equal sign; while the three archers, who wore green uniforms, had a legend that read: Equality (i) for the (c) Tri feminine (d).

One of the complaints that was made is that the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF) does not manage public access to the women’s Tri matches, while the men’s team does have that privilege.

At the end of this edition, the Ecuadorian Federation did not deliver an official statement on the matter and announced, through the Press Department, that its vice president, Carlos Manzur, will give an official version.

Match against Argentina

In the friendly match against the gauchas, the FEF in the summary of the commitment detailed that it was the Argentines who took control of the ball and with clear goal options. Thus, at minute 4 Mariana Larroquette marked the advantage for the visitors.

At 26 minutes, after a combination from the back of the field, with the authorization of Ámbar Torres and the failure of goalkeeper Lorina Oliveros, Ecuador put the equalizer.

Ecuador after the tie felt motivated and at 31 minutes, after a filtered pass, Karen Flores again beat the Argentine defense in speed and before the departure of Oliveros put the advantage 2-1 for the tricolor team.

Finally, at 37 minutes, Larroquette took advantage of a pass behind the back of the Ecuadorian defense and with a header made it 2-2 final. (D)
