Expert Alena Gribanova said that pregnant women are prohibited from high-intensity training
Coach Alena Gribanova spoke about the forbidden types of fitness for pregnant women. Her words are quoted by Gazeta.Ru.
The expert explained that high-intensity training is contraindicated for pregnant women, as they can lead to fetal hypoxia. “During intense training, blood is distributed from the internal organs to the working muscles. The uterus and placenta are internal organs, which means that the access of blood, oxygen and nutrients will be limited, ”she said.
It is also worth abandoning strength training, as they are always associated with a load on the musculoskeletal system and an increase in intra-abdominal pressure. “This can negatively affect the intrauterine development of the fetus and the course of pregnancy,” she explained.
Gribanova advised avoiding workouts that involve staying in one position for a long time. “The fact is that during pregnancy, the volume of circulating blood increases, which means that such training can lead to a deterioration in its outflow and can lead to varicose veins,” the specialist said.
Earlier, candidate of medical sciences Vyacheslav Koliev named the optimal amount of sports per week. The doctor recommended about 150-300 minutes of aerobic exercise per week, regardless of age.
