“I like the way Arsenal play, it’s a bit Ajax style,” said the defender, who can play as a defender or right-back.
“We are very happy with the arrival of Jurrien,” said Gunners coach Mikel Arteta. “He IS a young and versatile defender, who will integrate into our scheme and bring quality to our team”, he added.
Timber won two Dutch championship titles with Ajax (2021 and 2022) and started four of the five matches for the Dutch national team at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where ‘Oranje’ was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Argentina.
Arsenal adds this signing to the German Kai Havertz, who was at Chelsea, and may close with another reinforcement in the coming days: midfielder Declan Rice, from West Ham.
