Club Financial Control Authority fines Barcelona half a million euros
The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) fined Barcelona half a million euros. This was reported on the website of the organization.
The Club Financial Control Authority (CFCB) has penalized the club for misreporting its 2022 accounts. The case involves profits from the sale of intangible assets (other than transfers), which are not qualifying income under the rules. For errors in the reports, Manchester United was also fined 300 thousand euros.
In March 2023, corruption proceedings began against Barcelona. It was reported that between 2001 and 2018, the club’s management transferred more than seven million euros to the former vice-president of the Technical Committee of Referees of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, José María Enríquez Negreira. The functionary himself claimed that he only advised the team on the decisions of the judges, since the Catalans wanted to make sure that the referees were not biased towards them.
In the 2022/2023 season, Barcelona won the Spanish championship and received a license to participate in the Champions League next season. The team won La Liga for the 27th time in its history.
