On Monday, July 17, at 18:00, St. Petersburg artists Elena Bocharova and Oleg Dun will present an exposition called “Monumental/Jewellery” in the art space mArs (Polye de Mars) on Monday, July 17, at 18:00. The exhibition, organized as part of the New Wanderers project, will last for two weeks.
The Monumental/Jewellery project combines large-scale paintings by Elena Bocharova and jewelry by Oleg Dun. He reveals unexpected points of intersection between painting on canvas and on silver, showing the viewer how the small can be reflected in the monumental.

The art of Elena Bocharova is unmistakably recognizable by the artist’s desire for analytical orderliness of composition and rigid structuring of the pictorial plane, within which expression is concentrated, achieved through rhythm, color and truly filigree work with the texture of the work. Bocharova in her work invariably finds unexpected artistic solutions, enriching her paintings with interspersed materials – from fabric and paper to cement chips. Often the images in her paintings become crowded in the two-dimensional space of the canvas.

The jewelry presented at the exhibition, from bright and feminine to discreet and brutal, is distinguished by the same craving for experimentation. Fanciful forms and textures here echo the voluminous colorful clumps in the paintings, and the color solutions realized with the help of the hot enamel technique are related to the color of the painting. It becomes obvious that, regardless of technique and material, artists strive for the same goal – to express the individuality of the individual as fully as possible in a world oversaturated with images and imbued with a sense of non-stop racing.

Elena Bocharova is an artist, a member of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia. Born in Tolyatti in 1972, since 1997 she has been living and working in St. Petersburg. In 2003, Bocharova graduated from the Academy of Art and Industry. Stieglitz, faculty of monumental art. Studied analytical composition at Alexander Kondratiev’s studio.
