Hasek said that Czech and Slovak hockey players should be banned from playing in Russia
Olympic champion, two-time Stanley Cup winner Dominik Hasek addressed the athletes performing in Russia. His words are quoted by Pravda.sk.
“We should not work in an enemy country, because there we create values that it then uses against us,” the athlete said. He felt that politicians should develop laws prohibiting Czechs and Slovaks from performing in Russia.
On July 10, Hasek addressed members of the European Parliament. He stated that Russian athletes should be banned from participating in international competitions.
On August 25, the Czech Ice Hockey Federation announced that it would not call up players from Russian clubs to the national team. The Slovak Hockey Federation initially stated that they intended to call the players playing in Russia to the national team, but in March the organization changed its mind.
