Bilbao Basket signs Belgian power forward Thijs de Ridder for two years

Belgian power forward Thijs de Ridder (20 years, 2.03 meters) has signed this Wednesday with Surne Bilbao Basket for two seasons with an option for a third. The player is currently playing the European U20 with his country’s team, a competition in which he has been the player leader in points (19 per game), rebounds (12 per game) and efficiency (27.3 per game) of the entire group stage.
The 22/23 season has been the one of his explosion in the league of his country defending the shirt of Telenet Giants Antwerpteam with which he has averaged 11 points and 6.1 rebounds with 44.4% shooting from three points. His performance has led him to receive the awards for best young man and best sixth man in the competition. He has also been named to the league’s All-Star Five.
His numbers have also led him to the senior team, with which he has averaged 10.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in the windows FIBA Qualification for the world cup.
