Moldova denounces three more agreements within the CIS. According to Interfax, at a meeting on Wednesday, the government of the republic gave positive conclusions to the bills on this matter.
The Cabinet approved a draft law on the denunciation of the agreement on the support and development of small businesses in the CIS member states dated January 17, 1997. The reason for terminating the agreement was that Moldova, as part of the implementation of the association agreement with the EU and obtaining candidate status, is harmonizing national legislation with the European , and some provisions of the agreement with the CIS may serve as an obstacle on this path.
A bill was also approved on the denunciation of the cooperation agreement on the formation of a single (common) educational space of the CIS dated January 17, 1997. The Minister of Education Anatolie Topala said that in the field of education Moldova has bilateral agreements with the states that are members of the CIS, so the education sector will not suffer due to termination of the agreement.
In addition, the government approved the denunciation of the agreement on preferential supplies of special equipment and other materiel to the border troops of the CIS states dated September 9, 1994. the sphere of border security was limited, ”the explanatory note to the draft denunciation says.
Recall that in February this year, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu said that Moldova was starting the process of withdrawing from several dozen agreements within the CIS. According to him, the republic is a party to about 330 CIS agreements, many of which need to be revised.
