In a friendly match played this Saturday, the South Korean women’s team received Haiti at Sang-am Stadium, in Seoul, and won by 2-1. The match served as an opportunity for both teams to prepare for the world Cupwhich will start on the 20th of July.
Despite being favorites, South Korea started being surprised by Haiti and went behind the score in the first half. Mondesir received a deep ball in the back of the defense and touched the goalkeeper’s exit to swing the nets in the 16th minute of the game.
The home team’s reaction came in the second half, when Ji So-Yun converted a penalty and left everything equal in the sixth minute. The turnaround happened at 36 minutes, after a shot from outside the area by Jang Sel-Gi that was in the opposing goalkeeper’s angle.

This was South Korea’s last match before their first game at the World Cup. The Asians are in Group H and will start their journey in the competition against Colombia, on the 24th. They will also face Germany and Morocco in the first phase.
Haiti will debut two days earlier in the World Cup, in a duel against favorite England. The team is in Group D, which also includes Denmark and China.
