Russians will be allowed to the Asian Games if the IOC allows them to participate in the 2024 Olympics
The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has named the condition for the admission of Russian athletes to the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. This became known to “Match TV”.
The OCA said that the Russians will take part in the competition if the International Olympic Committee (IOC) allows them to participate in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The final decision will be taken with the cooperation of the IOC, OCA and international sports federations.
Earlier on July 8, Inside the Games reported that the Russians would be allowed to compete in neutral status and would not be eligible for medals. It was noted that the decision on admission was made in order to give the Russians the opportunity to take part in the selection for the Olympics in Paris.
On January 26, the OCA invited Russian and Belarusian athletes to take part in the Asian Games. The political demands laid down in the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) became an obstacle.
