Irina Rodnina invited Roman Kostomarov to head the Russian Figure Skating Federation
Three-time Olympic champion, State Duma deputy Irina Rodnina spoke about the future of Olympic champion in ice dancing Roman Kostomarov after recovery. Her words are quoted by Sport24.
“Figure skating will end sooner or later. This cannot be a matter and profession of a lifetime, ”said Rodnina and suggested that Kostomarov, after being discharged, head the Russian Figure Skating Federation. She noted that the athlete showed everyone that life does not end.
Kostomarov was discharged from the clinic on July 6. The figure skater posted a video saying goodbye to the hospital staff and thanking the doctors for saving his life. According to the SHOT Telegram channel, he was only discharged for a week so that he could be with his family.
Kostomarov was hospitalized on January 10 with pneumonia and influenza B. Due to the prolonged connection to a blood oxygenator and a ventilator, tissue began to die. Doctors amputated both feet of the figure skater, then the shins of both legs, the entire right hand and several fingers of the left.
