SHOT: Roman Kostomarov was discharged from the hospital for a week
Olympic ice dancing champion Roman Kostomarov was only released from the hospital for a week so he could be with his family. The details became known to the SHOT Telegram channel.
According to a source from the athlete’s entourage, in seven days the skater will return to the hospital for treatment. Kostomarov will have prosthetic hands, this process will take much longer than the selection of prosthetic legs.
Kostomarov’s discharge became known on July 6. The figure skater posted a video saying goodbye to the hospital staff and thanking the doctors for saving his life.
Kostomarov was hospitalized on January 10 with pneumonia and influenza B. Due to the prolonged connection to a blood oxygenator and a ventilator, tissue began to die off. Doctors amputated both feet of the figure skater, then the shins of both legs, the entire right hand and several fingers of the left.
