Russia called on the IOC to ban tournaments in the Czech Republic

Ex-Minister of Sports Kolobkov said that the IOC should ban tournaments in the Czech Republic

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) should ban tournaments in the Czech Republic. This opinion was shared by the former Minister of Sports of Russia Pavel Kolobkov, whose words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

“International federations and the Olympic Committee should make recommendations and decide not to hold international competitions in the Czech Republic,” Kolobkov urged. He stated that when hosting any competition, the country must guarantee compliance with the relevant agreements, which stipulate the possibility of participation of all athletes.

On June 29, it became known that the Czech government agreed with the proposal of the Ministry of Education to ban Russian athletes from competing in the country. In addition, the authorities will not allow Czech athletes to take part in tournaments that will be held in Russia.

On March 28, the IOC recommended that Belarusians and Russians who did not support the special operation in Ukraine be allowed to compete in a neutral status. At the same time, athletes from Russia and Belarus associated with the armed forces or security agencies of their countries are recommended to be suspended from participating in tournaments.
