Ángel Mena will have action with the León club and Washington Corozo with Pumas UNAM.
The Ecuadorian Ángel Mena del León, will face next Wednesday in an expected duel with the Uruguayan of the Tigres Nicolás López at the beginning of the semifinals of the Mexican Apertura tournament.
Mena, scorer of the two goals with which his team eliminated Puebla in the quarterfinals, is emerging as a key part of the León, of Argentine coach Ariel Holan, against Miguel Herrera’s Tigres, who will have a of his attack cards.
The series is difficult to predict because León, third in the regular phase, is having a good time, with Mena at the helm, just like Tigres, who has the leader of the scorers in López, as the offensive partner of French André Pierre Gignac.
The Liga Mx confirmed this Monday the schedules of the phase of the four best that will begin on Wednesday at the Estadio Universitario de Monterrey and will have its other first leg match on Thursday, with the Pumas UNAM by Ecuadorian Washington Corozo at home against the Atlas of the Argentine Julio Furch and the Colombian Julián Quiñones.
The second leg matches will be played over the weekend, with León and Atlas at home and will decide who qualifies for the final, which will be the teams with the most goals in 180 minutes. In the event of a tie, Atlas and León will go to the final, for having a better place in the regular phase.
The most striking thing about the quarterfinal phase was the elimination of América by coach Santiago Solari, the best team in the championship, 3-1 by manager Andrés Lillini’s Pumas, who had their hero in Corozo, with a couple of goals.
The other coach with the most name on the circuit was also left out, Javier Aguirre, a Monterrey strategist, eliminated by the Atlas of Argentine Diego Cocca. (D)
