With Almada in the Mexican league, Santos reached two quarter-finals, a play-off and a runner-up in the Clausura-2021 tournament.
Uruguayan technical director Guillermo Almada was fired on Monday by the Mexican soccer club Santos after being eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Apertura-2021 tournament.
“It was determined not to continue the process of Guillermo Almada and his coaching staff at the head of the squad, derived from differences in the medium and long-term vision,” Santos announced in a statement.
Almada’s dismissal comes after Santos lost 1-0 to the Tigres at the University Stadium on Sunday night in the second leg of the quarterfinals and with that defeat they suffered the elimination with an aggregate score of 2- 2 by the position criterion of the classification.
