Champion of Russia in diving Ilinykh said she would not change citizenship
Russian diving champion Kristina Ilyinykh spoke about a possible change of sports citizenship in order to compete at the 2024 Olympics in Paris. It is reported by “Match TV”.
“I’m definitely not going to renounce my citizenship or move somewhere. It’s just not my case. Although, of course, this is all interesting, it is the fruit of our labors. But I don’t think it’s so important for me, ”Ilinykh said. The athlete added that she had already competed at one Olympics, so she sees nothing wrong with missing another.
Ilyinykh is the European champion and bronze medalist of the World Championship in synchronized diving in a three-meter springboard. In the same discipline, she became the champion of Russia.
On March 28, the IOC recommended that Belarusians and Russians who did not support the special operation in Ukraine be allowed to compete in a neutral status. At the same time, athletes from two countries associated with the armed forces or security agencies are recommended to be suspended from participation in the starts.
