O Tottenham confirmed the arrival of a large reinforcement this Wednesday. This is the midfielder James Maddison, who was traded by Leicester City after the team’s relegation in the last English Championship.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the transfer of the 26-year-old cost £40 million (about R$245 million at current prices) to the English club’s coffers. Maddison has signed a five-year contract that will run until 2028.

This was Tottenham’s second signing this window. Last Tuesday, the English also confirmed the arrival of goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, who will compete with the experienced Lloris for a place under the goalposts.
Maddison was one of the main names in the Leicester squad. The Englishman also aroused Newcastle’s interest and was called a few times by coach Gareth Southgate to represent his country.
However, the midfielder dropped in performance along with the rest of the team in the final stretch of the last English Championship. During the 2022/23 season, Maddison scored 10 goals and distributed nine assists in 32 appearances with the Leicester.
