Roma head coach Mourinho suspended for 10 league matches
Roma head coach Jose Mourinho has been suspended for ten matches in the Italian championship. This was reported on the official website of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC).
The 60-year-old specialist was punished for his comments about the chief referee of the match against Monza, Daniele Chiffi. The meeting in the 33rd round of Serie A ended with a score of 1:1, after which the team from Rome fell out of the European Cup zone. After the game, Mourinho called Kiffi the worst referee he had ever seen.
It is noted that, in addition to disqualification, the coach was fined 50 thousand euros. Mourinho will serve his suspension from the start of the 2023/2024 season. Matches will start on August 19.
Mourinho is known for his work in the championships of Portugal, England, Spain and Italy. He took charge of Roma in 2021 and won the Conference League with the team.
