The head coach of the youth national team of Ukraine Ruslan Rotan spoke about the possible violation of the rules of the International Football Federation (FIFA) by the team. His words are quoted by the YouTube channel of the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF).
Rotan said that before the match with the Croatian national team at the youth Euro 2023, the Ukrainian side contacted FIFA about the participation of Anatoly Trubin and Georgy Sudakov in the game. “We were given the answer that these issues should be discussed with the clubs. We notified the clubs, talked to our doctors, guys, analyzed everything and acted as we saw fit, ”said the coach.
Earlier, the Romanian Football Federation (FFR) drew attention to the fact that Trubin and Sudakov entered the field, although they did not have the right to play that evening. Less than 48 hours before, they, as part of the main Ukrainian team, took part in the Euro 2024 qualification match against the Malta team, which is a violation of FIFA rules.
The Ukrainian youth team won two victories in the group stage of Euro 2023 and currently ranks second in Group B. Thus, the team has secured a place in the playoffs. Romanian players, also playing in this group, with two defeats lost the chance to reach the next stage of the tournament.
