Sensual, determined and ready to succeed. This is what the Ecuadorian singer and actress looks like today Nicole Rubira, who will return to the stage in 2023 with her provocative single More beautifulwhose official launch took place days ago. The music video is also available on YouTube and the full album will be released in 2024..

Nicole, now 29 years old, rose to fame years ago after participating in the reality A star is born (TV range) And famous school (ecuavisa), and then mark in the musical theater with works like high school music, Beauty and the Beast, Chicago; Only last year she gave birth to Princess Jasmine, from the Aladdin story.

Also today is part of ecuavisa as the segment’s official host between flashes.

What is that link you maintain with music that makes you discover the stage again and again?

Months ago I was advised by a family member who is well aware of the whole process I went through to get to this moment, and he asked me why I did it, whether it was to prove something to someone or for myself. And in that internal dialogue I discovered that I make music because I was born to do this. Music is my livelihood, my daughters; I’m passionate about it, it makes me vibrate. No matter how tired I am, music makes me happy. It is a duty to myself and to a legacy I feel I must carry on (as the granddaughter of Carlos Rubira Infante). And my daughters feel the same: it’s an artist family.

What is your new theme about, More beautiful?

This song was born years ago and I made it from my mom’s famous phrases like “what doesn’t kill you makes you more beautiful”. And it’s a very true thing because I feel like I lived that and I loved it. Sometimes we get used to loving and giving everything so much that we forget about ourselves, and that happened to me. I had very little self-esteem, but I learned to value myself with my virtues and flaws. And now, along with people who believe in me, I’ve been able to produce this album, which is one of my favorites because I feel it represents me.

And now we see another side of Nicole, more powerful and sensual.

She is who I have always been, but I was very embarrassed, because I had just played princess roles and family games, and I was ashamed to show my sensual side. I was a young mother, but I’m still a woman and since my daughters have grown up, I feel like I now have a chance to be myself. They now have more substantiated criteria and know that if I somehow succeed, it’s because I’m making music that eventually becomes art.

What can you tell me about the music video?

It’s cathartic about what happened to me months ago, when I lived in a haunted house and there was a presence that stuck to me and became obsessed with me and wanted to seduce me. And that theme makes the video and song picaresque and sensual. We shot it last year in Guayaquil and he directed it the Chinese Castillo, a Venezuelan who has also worked with great artists.

What musical genres do you want to discover in the new songs?

There’s R&B, blues, reggaeton with a little bachata, ballads, like I won’t fall in love again and electronics, a genre I love. And I even took a few short DJ lessons, because that was always my dream too.

Which label are you working with now?

It’s The Orchard, the company that distributes the music of Bad Bunny and BTS. And management was given thanks to Bohemia Studios, who are my producers. And great things are coming. It is the biggest dream come true in my life, because I have worked and longed for this since I was young. For people who dream big, like you and me, perseverance is everything. You have to be there.
