Journalist Fabrizio Romano disclosed that the club paid 23 million euros (about R$ 120 million at current exchange rates) to guarantee the arrival of the Senegalese. Koulibaly flew to Ryad, the country’s capital, to undergo medical examinations and sign the contract.
Last Friday, Al-Hilal also confirmed the signing of midfielder Rubén Neves. The two are part of the signing package that the team plans to bring this season. The Saudis also tried to sign Lionel Messi previously, who ended up agreeing with Inter Miami.
Koulibaly gained prominence in European football playing for Napoli. Hired by Chelsea last season for 40 million euros, the defender has not met the expectations of the English. In 32 appearances, he scored two goals and provided an assist.
