Stanley Cup winner Hasek will propose to the European Parliament to exclude Russians from tournaments
Olympic champion, two-time Stanley Cup winner Dominik Hasek will address members of the European Parliament in July. It is reported by Zprávy Aktuálně.
It is reported that Hasek will require the removal of representatives of Russia and Belarus from any international tournaments. He also plans to meet with the most influential deputies to discuss with them the decisions of individual sports federations, which approved the return of Russians and Belarusians to the starts.
On March 28, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that Belarusians and Russians who did not support the special operation in Ukraine be allowed to compete in a neutral status. At the same time, athletes from these countries associated with the armed forces or security agencies are recommended to be suspended from participating in starts. After that, a number of federations allowed Russian and Belarusian athletes to return to the competition.
At the end of February 2022, most sports organizations suspended Russians and Belarusians from tournaments on the recommendation of the IOC.
