Valuev spoke about a possible boycott of the 2024 Olympics by Russia

Nikolay Valuev said that Russia cannot legally boycott the 2024 Olympics

State Duma deputy, former world heavyweight boxing champion Nikolai Valuev spoke about a possible Russian boycott of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. It is reported by “Sport-Express”.

“Legally, we cannot act emotionally and simply say: we will not go. We will try to the end to meet the criteria with which we may not agree, ”said Valuev.

The deputy noted that Russia could challenge the criteria for the admission of athletes in court. “While the trial is going on, the Olympic Games will already be held. Our athletes will not go there, but this will not be a boycott, ”Valuev said.

On March 28, the IOC recommended that Belarusians and Russians who did not support the special operation in Ukraine be allowed to compete in a neutral status. At the same time, athletes from two countries associated with the armed forces or security agencies are recommended to be suspended from participation in the starts.

The Paris Olympic Games are scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
