Chelsea’s American owners buy French First Division team

The American consortium BlueCo, owner of the Chelsea since last year, announced this Thursday the purchase of Strasbourg, a First Division club in French Championship.

“This agreement marks a new chapter in the history of Strasbourg, as BlueCo commits to accelerate sustainable investments in the growth of the club, both in the first team and in the youth categories, continuing the project put into practice by Marc Keller, who will continue to be president of the club, supported by its current board,” said the consortium in an official statement.

BlueCo, which acquired 100% of Strasbourg’s shares, did not provide details on the purchase price.

Strasbourg is the fifth club in Ligue 1 to have American owners after Olympique Marseille, Lyon, Toulouse and Le Havre.
