NTB: Yelena Isinbayeva will be able to remain a member of the IOC after verification
The Ethics Committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has completed a review of a member of the organization, two-time Olympic pole vault champion Elena Isinbayeva. This became known to NTB.
According to the source, Isinbayeva will be able to remain a member of the IOC, despite the connection with the Russian army. “All the necessary work has been done,” Mark Adams, director of communications for the committee, commented on the information.
On June 21, Adams announced the inspection. He said that support for hostilities and contractual obligations with military structures would be considered.
On March 28, the IOC recommended that Belarusians and Russians who did not support the special operation in Ukraine be allowed to compete in a neutral status. At the same time, it is recommended that athletes from Russia and Belarus associated with the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation or the security agencies of their countries be suspended from participating in starts.
