Conmebol announced this Tuesday that the America Cup 2024 will begin on June 20th and run through July 14th, taking place in the United States. The tournament will have the participation of 16 selections from South America and Concacaf.

“We are happy to officially announce the date for the opening and final of the Conmebol Copa América 2024,” said the president of the South American confederation, Alejandro Domínguez, in a statement.

The tournament will have ten teams from Conmebol and six from Concacaf, which encompasses North and Central America.

“The venues will be announced shortly, as well as the competition calendar,” added the federation.

In 2016, the United States hosted the Copa América for the first time, in the edition that marked the centenary of the tournament, in a partnership between CONMEBOL and CONCACAF. On that occasion, Chile took the trophy.

The current champion is Argentina, which in 2021 defeated Brazil 1-0 in the grand final, played at Maracanã.
